Omega “Carey” Gomez
82 Years Young
Everywhere she worked, she took the Lord with her. We can remember a time when she was working at a preschool, Brown’s Academy; there was a child attending who was paralyzed. God spoke to Omega and told her to lay hands on that child. The child could not hold her bottle, due to the paralysis, and after laying hands on her, the child was able to do so. Today that child is healed and went on to graduate from college. She carried in her what her mother instilled in her; that you can lay hands on the sick and they can be healed. She explained, “As kids, we remember sitting on the floor reading the Bible scriptures and always being afraid of the Book of Revelations.”
She served faithfully in her church, under the leadership of Elder William Brazil, Pastor at United Temple Church of God by Faith. She taught Sunday school; a member of the prayer board, Adult Sunday school, pastor aide committee, church’s mother’s board, the financial board and was a carrier for the church. She also served as a formal Bible teacher at the Florida Bible Mission for many years under the leadership of the late Dr. William Bell.
She was a true prayer warrior praying for the sick through Christ Jesus with results. Going from door to door letting others knows He lives and that He is the answer. Additionally, she was an advocate for feeding anyone that may be hungry from bags of food to cooked food for those who are not able to cook it themselves. She gave advice to those who were lost trying to find their way back while encouraging both believers and nonbelievers. Everything she did, she based it on the true Word of God. She was not only a mother to her children but a mother to all children encouraging them to keep God first to praying daily for them to stay in school. She was blessed and a blessing to others. It has been said that she was a Proverbs 31 mother. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27. She knew the Lord was her light and her salvation.
That’s my Aunt Omega. She was a gorgeous lady & a fancy dresser. She was always fun and loving. Jerome & I will always hold a special place for her in our hearts. We will forever love and remember how she made us feel and welcomed us to her and Elton’s home when we visited and fellowshipped with them. Love you forever, Jerome & Hattie Scott Walker (Ann) Moultrie, Ga
